Big Thunder Gold Mine is a large attraction.  It is the most complete mining experience in the Black Hills.  The tour is in an original gold mine, takes approximately 1 hour and all participants experience a hands on presentation of the Gold Rush in the Black Hills from 1876 to 1914.  2 forms of gold panning are offered, claim tours offer participants to gold pan in a stream using classifiers, sluices and goldpans in a 4 hour  experience on a Black Hills Federal Mining Claim.  On site panning (gem or gold) is offered.  Gold Guaranteed, gift shop carries gold panning supplies, rocks, rock items, jewelry & t shirts.  Full service Bar & Grill with a full menu and low prices, wines & beer local flavor available 9am - 6pm April thru May, September & October.  8am - 8pm June, July & August.

Visit and feel the splendor of the 1890 Victorian Schoolhouse in Keystone! Keystone was developed through the gold rush of the late 1890's. The Historical Keystone Museum houses displays of local Keystone history including mining and the making of Mt Rushmore collectibles. It also houses the collectibles of Carrie Ingalls of "Little House on the Prairie" fame. She lived most of her adult life in Keystone. The museum is free. The Keystone Historical Society manages the museum and the Keystone Historical Walking Tour with 21 sign sites throughout the community of Keystone. The walking tour is also free.
